I could walk around Camden myself, in search of street art, or I could pay £10 and join Camden Street Art Tours and have them point out 100+ artworks for me. As I’m only in London for a few days, I happily signed up for the latter.
Our small group of around 10, met up outside Camden station. And then we were off on our 2 hour walking tour of London’s famous Camden neighbourhood.
Our guide, Nelly Balazs, is a street art expert, helping to find and set up walls for street artists. The legal way.
Some of my faves from the walking tour:
The benefits of being part of a tour: save time + get the inside scoop on the street art. For example, this mural of John Lennon by artist Gnasher. What you see is Lennon in his trademark round glasses. Look a little closer and you might even see something reflected in those glasses and think nothing of it.
But get the inside scoop and turn around and look across the street, on top of the roof and you can see the CCTV camera and antennae – which is depicted in those glasses. And one would never know or would’ve thought, if one was not on this tour.
Such a small fee to see so very much. I definitely recommend this Camden Street Art Tour to anyone who loves street art.
