I’m a huge fan of Dita Von Teese, vintage style icon and the queen of burlesque. She is a modern day goddess. For years, I have wanted to go see her live show, but unfortunately, the closest she’s got to these parts was at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle.
But that all changed last week when Dita Von Teese brought her Copper Coupe Tour to the QET.
Our little kitty is growing up so fast!
It feels like just yesterday when we adopted Luna. Back when she was only 12 weeks old and ever so tiny, weighing only three pounds. I remember how the fella and I took turns sleeping in my office with her all night, not only to comfort and to make sure her needs were tended to, but also to bond with her. Kittens are a lot of work!
But we knew this day was coming…

I’ve been to Honolulu and Maui before, so I already knew that I love Hawaii. In my mind, it is my island paradise. (although to be fair, I have not yet traveled to other island paradises like St. Lucia or Bali). And for the longest time, I’ve been telling Sean that he slash we must go, because I knew he would feel the same way as I do.
We chose the Big Island over the other islands because we wanted to see volcanos, lava tubes, lush rainforests, thundering waterfalls, jagged lava fields, verdant valleys, sprawling pasture lands and be on top of the world and above the clouds. That’s a tall order! Not many islands will has as varied a landscape as the Big Island of Hawaii.

Because flights out of Hawaii are scheduled in the evening, we were able to see a couple of more places before our flight back to Vancouver. We checked out of our AirBNB in Honoka’a and on our way over to Kona, we stopped off in Waimea to go to the W.M. Keck Observatory. Since there are no visitors allowed at Keck I and II on Mauna Kea, we thought we’d learn more about the observatory at the headquarters facility.

For the last couple of days in Hawaii, we’re staying at an AirBNB in Honoka’a, a small, charming town with historic storefronts and mom and pop businesses. It’s an ideal location, situated almost right between Kona and Hilo.
Sean was still feeling the effects from yesterday’s high altitude Mauna Kea trip when we woke up. He likened it to a hangover. I was fine, albeit a little tired. We decided to have a mellow day.
