Going out for friend’s birthday dinners can be a hit or a miss with me. In that, the restaurant or its offering may not appeal to my rather picky palate. But that was not the case with Absinthe Bistro, where we celebrated Grace’s birthday.
In fact, when I checked out the menu online beforehand, I couldn’t wait for Friday’s birthday dinner to arrive.
What’s up with the Vancouver Art Gallery?!
First there was Mash Up: The Birth of Modern Culture in 2016. That was followed by Juxtapoz X Superflat in 2017. And now they’re exhibiting Takashi Murakami’s The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg.
A much needed girls night out. It just happened to be at a casino.
It wasn’t all about the gambling though. In fact, we started at Grand Villa Casino‘s Alpina Bar to indulge in their happy hour items like California sushi tacos and the meat + cheese trays, and drinking the hard work week away.
Happy nine years! I can’t believe it’s been nine years. (in a good way, ‘natch)
As per tradition, the money we would’ve used to buy each other presents, we decided to put it towards an upcoming trip instead. That also meant, at least for this year, no hotel stays like we did in the past.
