Waiting for the Day When I Can Travel Again


I did not get on a plane this year. But luckily, I did get to go on a ferry for a weekend getaway and overnighted at hotels around town.

A couple of those staycations I went by myself. And it was pretty damn glorious. That’s not to say I don’t like traveling with someone. I do. But the alone time proved crucial to my mental + emotional health, which took a swan dive this past year.

I’ve always wanted to buy a really cool map of the world that I could display on my wall and pushpin all the places that I had been to. But I’m pretty picky about what it should look like and if it would go with the rest of my decor.

Well, this one certainly would. Want! Even though the pins are too big and the map is too small to pin every single place I’ve traveled, I’d still adorn my wall with it. (well, I could pin country and state instead of cities)

A Night at the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier


To mix things up, we treated ourselves to a night away at the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier in North Vancouver. This would be our first overnight stay since the start of the pandemic.

We usually stick downtown and have enjoyed our stays at Hyatt Regency, Shangri-la, Rosewood Hotel Georgia, L’Hermitage, Loden Hotel, and the Pan Pacific Vancouver, but the Pinnacle’s promotion of a superior harbourview king with private balcony plus $25 on-site dining certificate was hard to pass up.
