It’s been a hot minute since our horseback riding experience with Glen Valley Stables. Three years in fact. Where does the time go?

We still in phase 3 of BC’s restart plan, which means we’re still discouraged to travel outside the province. And I suspect, won’t be for a long while yet. So with summer vacation plans dashed, I had to come up with other ways to spend my days off. One of those ways was to go connect with our equine friends again.

A Return to the Cinemas – Quarantine Edition


You can’t keep two movie lovers away from going to the cinemas, except in the case of a global pandemic. And even then, we’ll plan to go, while doing so in the safest manner possible.

That means, hitting up VIP screenings instead of regular screenings. The main advantage of VIP is that the seats are spaced further apart. For that extra bit of distance, we don’t mind paying a little bit more for VIP tickets.

Neighbourhood in Bloom II – Quarantine Edition

I suppose it was too much to think that Vancouver would continue its trend of being one of the best places in the world with the lowest COVID cases slash deaths.

Where once we were front and centre as a glowing example of how to flatten the curve, we have now joined other cities whose numbers are spiking due to young people and their need to party and act like idiots. Who cares about all the social distancing and donning of masks we’ve all complied with the past few months when there are keggers and drum circles parties to hit?

Movie Watching at Twilight Drive-In – Quarantine Edition


It’s been over 4 months in this, our new reality. There’s been changes we’ve had to get used to, like masking up when we’re out and making sure we socially distance from people,  and staying close to home and going with the slow.

Some people miss eating at their favourite restaurants, while others miss sporting events. The activity that we miss the most is going to the theatre to watch movies.

Neighbourhood in Bloom – Quarantine Edition

It’s been over 3 months since BC declared a state of emergency. We’ve learned to live with stay in place orders, waited patiently for essentials (and luxuries) to become stocked up in grocery stores, and dealt with not being able to come in close contact with loved ones.

Although it’s been anxiety-inducing and inconvenient, life slowing down has allowed us to gain a new perspective and realize just how connected we all are.
