These are strange times we’re living in…
When my company made the decision to have everyone work from home, it was such a surreal feeling packing up my laptop and monitor, exiting the building and not knowing when we might return.
It’s been about 2 weeks since Corus had their employees transition from the office to work from home. We don’t know when we’ll all return to the office – for now, we’ll be remote working indefinitely. I am lucky and privileged that my company pulled out all stops to make sure we were all set up for success. They understand that we are not “working from home” but “at home, living through a pandemic, and trying to do our jobs.”
The fella and I are celebrating 11 years (!) We’ve entered our 2nd decade together (!)
Time flies when you enjoy being around each other. Even in the upside-down that is currently our world.
We’ll have a proper re-do when things go back to normal, but a walk in the park, take-out dinner and movie night in is still not a shabby way to celebrate.
Happy annibirdsary to my one and only. Love you.
How has it been 8 years since I last saw Platinum Blonde in concert?!
Although the gig was not in my backyard this time, I didn’t mind heading downtown after a long day at work. Having lived in the burbs for the past 7 years, it’s nice to occasionally head into town for events. Plus the Commodore Ballroom is always a great venue for music.
Dinner with a View comes to Vancouver! And so well timed while Peggy was in town. Not that we need an excuse to have ourselves a fancy girls night out.
The pop up, luxury dining experience started in Toronto and Montreal last year. Guests would dine inside translucent, geodesic domes set up in a unique outdoor location, partaking in a blind 3 course dinner. Sounds intriguing, non?
Did you know that you can get hang out with alpacas here in BC? And that one of those places, Kensington Prairie Farm in Langley, is just a 45 minutes drive from Vancouver?
And what better occasion than when my bestie, Peggy, comes to town that we should go on a trek to see these adorable Huacaya alpacas? If you already think llamas are cute, wait until you catch a load of alpacas. They’ll put a smile on your face and a giggle in your heart.
New year, new decade, new dream job? You betcha!
This week, I joined the team at Corus Entertainment as their Digital Specialist, Local Tempo and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
If you’ve ever watched TV or listened to the radio in Canada, you’ll know Corus through their brands like: Global TV, W Network, HGTV Canada, Food Network Canada, HISTORY Canada, Showcase, Adult Swim, National Geographic, Slice, Disney Channel Canada, YTV, CFOX and Rock 101.
I visited the Global BC TV studio as part of the introduction to TV broadcasting course at BCIT and remembered thinking, “Wowzers, I would love to work here.”
Fast forward a year (and a bit) later and now I am part of the media and content powerhouse! #hellaexcited
There was a meme circulating on the interwebs before the arrival of the new year, which spoke directly to Gen X’ers: “We were born in the 70s. Next week we have lived in 6 decades, 2 centuries, 2 millennias, and we aren’t even 50 yet!”
Doesn’t that make you feel hella old, my fellow Gen X’ers? On the flip side, I kinda feel like an immortal vampire – being here for so long, yet somehow still feeling young (although my looks might say otherwise).
A Keanu “whoa”.
Not only is it the end of the year, but it’s the end of the decade. My how it feels like it flew by, and yet, still went slow enough to pack so much in in 10 years.
Before I reflect on the past decade, allow me to take a moment and reflect on my year that was 2019…
