It was my second time at archery tonight and gee willikers, I had bushels of fun. My confidence was buoyed straight away when my first round of arrows with my 15 lbs re-curve bow shot all within target.
But nothing excited me more then when I shot my first bulls-eye! Yes, I was doing my happy dance. I also asked everyone not to mind me, as I snapped a shot of it to preserve for posterity my first bulls-eye. But everyone thought it was cause for me to celebrate and one of the organizers, Rina, had me stand beside said arrow to properly commemorate said occasion. I’m nerd deluxe.
I was observing and chatting with some of the more experienced archers with their compound bow (the bows with the wheel and pulleys) and all their back to back dead shots and I thought, I want to be just like that. Can you see me as a sharpshooter?
Course, being a newbie, my rounds were sometimes inconsistent as I was trying to decide if using a sight (which is nothing more than just a coloured pin you push into the foam on the front of your bow to mark your target) on the bow is better for me or just shooting intuitively. (I think I favour a sight better right now)
This is why I’ll be taking proper classes, as well as attending these meet-ups. Can not wait.
