You never know what kind of impact you might have on a little kid. (one that’s not yours, that is)
But a couple of weeks ago when my aunt, my cousin Kim and her friend Daisy came for a visit, I found out.
A couple of years ago, when I visited my cousins in San Francisco, I bought a Miga plush toy for my cousin’s daughter. I thought it was cute and hope that she’d get a kick out of one of our Olympics mascots. Well, it turns out that Bri loves her Miga so much that she sleeps with it nightly, even taking it with her for sleepovers at her grandma’s.
Kim told me that one time when the family went on a few days vacation, that my cousin, in a haste, forgot to pack Miga. When Bri found out, she got so upset that she cried and could not go to sleep.
Whoa.
As Bri is so attached to her Miga, her world would probably “unravel” should anything happened to the very well-loved and starting to get worn out doll. Heaven forbid the doll gets lost or used as a chew toy by the family dog. My cousin Kim was advised to buy another Miga doll while up here – for the just in case scenario. That’s so precious.
The other thing that happened was about my niece, CC. My brother and my mother calls her by her given name. My other brother calls her ‘baby’ and I call her CC. (and yes, she responds to all of us) Daisy told me that she tried to call my niece CC and my little 3 year old niece replied, “Only Auntie Ling can call me that.”
Heart melts into a puddle.

Yep, little kids (and dogs and cats) definitely restore one’s faith in the world.
Your nieces are lucky to have such a special auntie. 🙂
The pearls kids come out with can break and mend your heart. Make sure you write some of these down for her for when she’s older!
