Twice the zombies and thrice the crowd.
Saturday’s Zombiewalk Vancouver was hella crowded and hella busy, compared to last year. Perhaps it was due to all the buzz from Zombiewalk 2009? Or maybe some of the crowd spilled over from the Brazilfest happening the next street over? Or maybe it was the additional zombie cast from the Bong of the Dead indie movie joining in?
Whatever the reason, it was shoulder to ghoulish shoulder at the Vancouver Art Gallery. One had to beware whilst walking through the thicket of the undead, lest you get zombie blood pressed up against you.
So what was new this year?
Variety: The Children’s Charity offering to zombify people on the spot.
On-site shooter shooting zombie portraits.
Mohawks & faux hawks galore. This green mohawk kid was so cute. He helped me get pictures by clearing space and getting his friends to pose for me.
Steampunk zombie.
This exi(stential) zombie looked like he’s newly infected, but doesn’t quite know what his purpose is.
Zombie girl with her zombie rat.
Celebrity zombie: last year Michael Jackson. This year Lady Gaga.
I ran into some of the repeat offenders from last year’s walk
The blond zombie girl was also there but I did not get a good shot of her.
And as the Zombiewalk began to shuffle its way down Robson street, I got ready to leave.
But not before I spied Ash from Evil Dead coming down the gallery steps. I called out, “Hey, Ash!” and he actually heard me. He flashed me a smile then ran off to fight the zombie horde.
Another fun day with the undead.
