Just 2 days after we got back from our Victoria trip, Sean and I had to pack up again. This time, to head up to Whistler to have a visit with his other sisters. It was like we were taking 2 vacations back to back! Fun but exhausting as the downtime in between is almost not enough to recuperate/do chores/run errands before having to hit the road again.
Luckily we didn’t have to drive this time. Sean’s sister Karen and her husband Greg, who were in town from California, were doing the honours. Along with Sheila, we headed up to Kat’s place in Whistler.
So what did we get up to during our 2 day stay? Eat (of course) and a couple of breathtaking and exhilarating one hour treks in -2C weather the first day and -10C the second day. (the Peak of Whistler mountain was at -18C!) I was made aware of the inside joke of buttkes, poo was the word to crack up to and of course, nearly falling off my chair about a surprising and shocking incident.
Heading out to the Valley Trail at Meadow Park.
This German shepherd just loves to hang out on the middle of the trail. Kat told us he’s there everyday.
I’ve been to Whistler lots of times, but this was a Whistler I hadn’t seen before. There were no throng of tourists and skiiers/snowboarders. This was a whistler just past the busy village, where it was just residents walking their dogs in the park or practicing to cross-country ski, saying hi to each other. It was a tranquil and picturesque Whistler. It is one that I’m looking forward to seeing again. (but maybe not in -10C weather)
Sean and the fam.
Look at that, 2 mini getaways in one week. And with so much go-go-go the past few days, Sean and I will be looking forward to a quiet and mellow new years eve.
