Some pictures of family dinner Friday night at Floata restaurant.
CC who just turned 4 in December is at the age where:
a) She gets all self-conscious and dodgy when I try to take pictures of her. The below pictures were taken mid-dinner which shows you how long it took for the ham in her to come out.
b) I still don’t think she knows what to make of her auntie Ling. Unfortunately, I only have time to see her once a week or every other week, so it takes time to break the ice each time I have a visit.
I do know that as she gets older, we’ll have (hopefully) a very special auntie/niece relationship. Perhaps she’ll see me as the cool aunt she can talk to and get advice from. But for right now, she’s all daddy’s girl. (spitting image of him too)
The next important relationship to CC, outside of her parents, is with her grandmom. My mother babysits CC at least twice a week and is very engaged with her. She spoils CC every chance she gets and takes on the fun grandmom role with such pride. Such a difference when one is a grandparent rather the parent. And she’s loving every moment of it.
Course, with some patience and letting her come out of her shell, I think perhaps, I might be one of her favourite people too. Here she is slowly but surely connecting with me. Especially when she started playing with Allan’s cell phone and taking pictures of me taking pictures of her. That’s when the shrieks, cackles and unbridled silliness came out. Apparently, it’s a riot to take my picture.
By the end of dinner, we were pretty good. Even when she “chest bumped” me, rather than throw her arms around in a hug goodbye.
Apparently, unless you’re dad or grandmom, she’s still shy when it comes to giving hugs.
