My aesthetician friend Janet launched her new business and that business is eyelash extensions. Looking for friends who wanted to be her guinea pigs, I was more than happy to try this out.
Being Asian, my lashes are poker straight, just like my hair. Grass being greener and all, I’ve always wished they were curly, long and thick. Even having Portuguese blood did not endow me with lush lashes.
So this was a temporary and fun way to imagine what I’d look like if I was blessed. The session took a couple of hours, as I was her 3rd practiced on client. The great thing was that she doesn’t specialize in “caterpillar” lashes – you know, the ones that you can spot from a mile away. like, bar star fake.
And the lashes were not synthetic either, rather the extensions are mink hair. But no need to get knickers into a twist, the lashes are cruelty free, harvested by gentle brushing only. That was important to me.
Here’s some pics of me on the table, while Janet worked her skills:
Here’s the before and after shot, because every makeover has to have that, right?
Each extension was glued right onto my lashes, individually. All I had to do was relax and keep my eyes closed. And when I finally opened them, whammo blammo! natural-looking and curly lashes making my eyes pop! without the aid of mascara.

I was very happy with the results and would definitely do it again. It would be a nice splurge for a special occasion. Throughout that day and several days after, I just couldn’t help but keep batting my lashes.
