I took Charlie to the vet the other day because his eye was acting up again. I wanted to make sure it was nothing serious. When I had adopted Charlie, I was told he’s vulnerable to respiratory problems and that includes, inflamed eyes.
Turns out that was all it was. Nothing that a 4 day course of eye ointment and daily lysine won’t fix.
But while I was there, a vet tech told me that Charlie is a Bombay cat. I always referred to him as a domestic short hair (which he is), but now I know what breed!
So I googled “Bombay cat” and you know what comes up?
Physical traits:
* Gold or copper coloured eyes.
* Nose and paw pads are solid black.
* Velvety black with a sleek and glossy coat – which does not shed (which is why sean is not as allergic to charlie as he is jonesy).
* Muscular and considerably heavier than he looks.
* When he walks, he sways from side to side, like a miniature panther.
Check, check, check and check.
As for the personality characteristics?
* Highly social and craves attention.
* Tends to have a certain person (usually female) whom they pay special attention to.
* Have a very distinctive purr and love to snuggle.
And further proof, after watching this Animal Planet video, I can say that without a doubt, this is Charlie to a T!
