Sean’s birthday present to me this year was a stay at the L’Hermitage Hotel downtown plus dinner and movie of my choice. And even though we were technically still in Vancouver, it felt like we left town, if only for a night.
The boutique hotel was just lovely, the room with balcony was beautifully appointed and the service top-notch. The facilities included an outdoor jacuzzi and heated salt-water outdoor lap pool, which we took advantage of, even though it was like 5° outside.
In fact, we were the only ones out there – which was great for us. No sharesies! I can understand why people in Nordic countries enjoy taking a dip in hot springs even though it’s freezing out. Feels so nice!
After drying off and resting, we went for dinner in Yaletown before catching the Jean-Luc Goddard retrospective at The Cinematheque. This weekend’s film was the classic, Breathless with Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg. It was Sean’s first time watching the movie and he really liked it.
What a great period to have lived in – the style, the fashion, the cars and the jazz. And what a great birthday. Girl got spoiled today. Thanks babe for a lovely day.
