If there was one thing I could ask of the spring season, it would be to extend the life of cherry blossoms. Something so beautiful should last longer. But alas, perhaps by its very nature of being so fleeting, does it cause us to be so appreciative of its beauty.
Every spring, I try to find time to see the blossoms. But it’s been hard, what with working all week and then rain most of the weekend, thus shortening its life cycle. It helps a little that I walk right through Hornby Plaza, with its row of cherry blossom trees on the way to work.
And although the cherry blossom season will still continue with the deep pink kanzan trees, my preference is for these white/pink akebano trees.
We didn’t make it out to our cherry blossom tree at QE park, but we did check out a new spot – the cherry blossom trees at Burnaby Lake.
The day we purchase a home, I’m going to plant an akebano cherry blossom tree in the backyard.
