Every year, the same observation. That time moves way too fast. but in 2015, I packed a lot in. Also, new career path. Not just one job, but two new ones! Plus travel near and far! Overall, 2015 was pretty awesome and laid the foundation for more personal and professional growth.
Let’s rewind and reflect…
January: A whole new look. A whole new me.
February: My do not go gentle into that good night birthday. Who would’ve thought my job offered this opportunity? The answer to ‘Have I ever danced for money?’ will remain a mystery. Year of the sheep family dinner.
March: Hanging out with our caprinae friends. Happy six to my honey bunny. Celebrating our anniversary in high nerd style: steampunk Cirque show, 2 guys and their cellos and Star Wars finery. Barry Allen aka The Flash filming right outside my door. Getting my mind blown by Commander Hadfield.
April: My little spoon. Being rained upon once again by cherry blossom petals. Chuckles does not like the vet. Obvs. More cherry blossom petal goodness. Petals > germs.
May: A visit to the city of cats. Visiting friends south of the border. JAMC comes to Vancouver. I impart wisdom.
June: Hanging with some raptors. A new job.
July: Another new job. What am I? Nuts? The magic hour really does give the best lighting conditions.
August: Felines at Casa de Sullichan. Crossing one off my travel bucket list: Iceland! LGBTQ rainbow leading up to a church, because Iceland. Minecraft church. Spying Northern lights in Iceland. Exploring Reykjavik. Because John Lennon. Geysers, horses and the Golden Circle. Never thought I’d be so excited about GLACIERS, but I was.
September: Speedboating through a glacial lagoon. Moonscaping with an ice ax and crampons. A dip in the Blue Lagoon. A day of museum’ing in London. Paul Weller did something to me. All things James Bond. Seeking out street art in Camden. Mad hatter and white rabbit busks in Camden. Friends in high places get me into the BBC Proms. Hanging out with surrogate kitties in Shoreditch. On the hunt for street art in East London. So thrilled that I got to be a part of the Secret Cinema’s Star Wars Experience. Celebrating 150 years of Alice in Wonderland.
October: Coming across another Flash filming. I love Hollywood North.
November: When Mad Max met Leatherface. Daniel Wu retweets me. I die. No escape from an escape room.
December: Seriously, we suck at escape rooms. Waking up hella early. For the kids. Shadowing a cardiac surgery ICU nurse. Christmas wishes from the Sullichans. Celebrating New Years Eve at the Pan.
So last year, I promised myself that in 2015, I’d break out the big guns on travel, and boy, did I ever. Fulfilling my long-time wish to travel to Iceland? Yowza, I fell in love with the country. And I will never tire of going to London. Ever.
So what’s next on my travel bucket list? Lots still. Hopefully, I can knock off a few more destinations for 2016.
Here’s to more good times and good health! Happy New Year, everyone!
