Our little kitty is growing up so fast!
It feels like just yesterday when we adopted Luna. Back when she was only 12 weeks old and ever so tiny, weighing only three pounds. I remember how the fella and I took turns sleeping in my office with her all night, not only to comfort and to make sure her needs were tended to, but also to bond with her. Kittens are a lot of work!
But we knew this day was coming…
Technically, we could’ve taken her in before our Hawaii trip, but we wanted her to be a kitten for as long as possible. It was as if a light suddenly turned on. One day she’s doing her kitten thing and the next day, BAM, she’s writhing around, rubbing up against table legs and corners, being super affection while trilling non-stop, with the occasional yowl.
Got to say, I felt some separation anxiety, leaving her at the vet to get spayed. She’s our tiny, little furbaby, after all.
Luckily, Luna did very well and we were able to pick her up at the end of the day. Luna absolutely hated the cone of shame, so Sean got her a couple of baby onesies to prevent her from licking at her stitches. Of course, he would buy one that says “I heart daddy.”
We cut off the sleeves, along with the closed bottom. I stitched up the bottom, so that Luna wouldn’t trip on it. It was a complete hack job, but it did the trick.
And for the next 10 days, we looked after her: taking turns sleeping with her in a separate room of the house, and supervising her when we took her onesie off, so that she could lick and groom the rest of her body. She looked so sad otherwise.
She was also very needy after getting spayed and would cozy up to Charlie for comfort. Charlie, being the best cat ever, was very accommodating and loving towards Luna. Remember, she has not always been so gentle with Charlie.
Luna is very lucky to have Charlie. He really does love her. (if only she was not such a little terror towards him sometimes!)
And we love our Luna something fierce. She’s a little treasure and everyday we’re thankful that she’s in our lives. Little stinker has our hearts, especially daddy’s.
