And just like that, I won last minute tickets to the sold out On the Run II tour with Beyoncé and Jay Z through work! Wha?!?
When I called the fella to tell him the good news and asked if he wanted to go, I got a resounding “Yea, we are!”
I think Beyonce is the (queen) bee’s knees. And although I’m not a hard-core member of the Beyhive, I think that she is an absolute icon. She absolute crushes her live shows. I have never been to a Beyonce concert because of the prohibitive cost of the tickets. (same reason why I’ve never been to a Madonna concert). So if you win Beyonce tickets – you go. You clear everything off your schedule (including ditching class) and you go.
Added bonus: Vancouver is their only Canadian stop. So yea, YOU GO.
Get ready for a barrage of photos (sorry, not sorry):
In terms of production values, the On the Run II tour is probably one of (if not) the best concert I’ve been to. 2 1/2 hrs + 43 song set, 2 massive LED screens, the hydraulic stage, movable sidewalks, multi-tiered back stage, projection rigging, choreo, umpteenth musicians and dancers, personal videos, outfit changes (!) + 40,000 fans going out of their ever-loving minds!
I went for Beyonce. Sean went for Jay-Z. But by the end of the concert, we appreciated the other’s immense talents.
Now that I’ve witnessed a Beyonce concert, I know why fans are all like, “Take my money! Take all my money!” Heck, our seats were worth north of $250 each. That’s hella pricey, but for a true stan, it’s worth it. You can always make more money, but how many times are we going to see Beyonce and Jay-Z, especially in a co-headlining tour?
Beyonce + Jay-Z are the undisputed king + queen of hip hop and absolute legends of this generation. On the Run II (OTRII) is a master class in how to put on a stadium show. And I’m one lucky bitch who won tickets to the event of 2018.
Here’s the On the Run II setlist:
