There seems to be more airstreams available for staycations nowadays. And that’s a good thing. Last year I stayed at one at Woods on Pender. This year, I chose Tin Can Ranch because the Sunshine Coast is a favourite local getaway of ours.
Tin Can Ranch is located in Gibsons, just a short 40 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal in West Vancouver.
When you disembark, it’s literally a 10 minute drive to this peaceful and quiet “mini-ranch.” Much easier and less hassle to get to than Woods on Pender. And more services on the island too!
The furniture, decor, and colour palette of this 70s era Airstream is retro yet modern at the same time. And it’s not so rustic, that you’re without the amenities you might not be able to live without: cable TV, wifi, wireless speakers, heat and A/C. Plus a full sized shower and a proper flushable toilet.
And if that wasn’t enough for an enjoyable stay, just outside the Airstream is the private deck with cedar lined outdoor shower, cowboy style soaking tub, fire pit, string lights, hammock, hanging rattan swing chair, and sauna with skylight.
Woods on Pender may have a private hot tub, but I’d trade that for hanging out with Sonny, Biscuit, and Reggie, the three resident dwarf goats. You know how I adore billy goats.
Another thing that added to that feeling of summertime camping, or in my case glamping, was the soothing and relaxing sound of crickets chirping.
I didn’t leave the property except to get something to eat and spent my entire time there reading, binging series, and general lounging about. And it was just what I needed to recharge my mental health batteries and continue my journey at getting back to feeling more like me.
