“I’m Cruella. Bold, brilliant, born bad, and a little mad.”
Another Halloween. Another villain. Kinda.
Sure – the Washi Sisters, Hela, Geishabot, and Medusa were straight up bad, but Disney’s re-imagined Cruella De Vil humanizes her to the point where she’s more heroine than the big bad. Not unlike Angelina Jolie’s portrayal of Maleficient.
I would’ve been opened to playing Glenn Close’s Cruella De Vil, but I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to dress like Emma Stone’s version. Because LEWKS.
The unrealized fashion designer in me loved every outfit. I was so excited by the promo shots that I could barely contain my excitement when the movie finally made it to streaming. Out of the outfits to choose from, there was no doubt in my mind that it would be the one where she climbs on top of the Baroness Von Hellman’s’ car, sabotaging her entrance, and branding her “the past.”
For a brief second, I even toyed with dressing up like the Baroness from the movie. Again because LEWKS. And it was so fun watching Emma Thompson play that villainess with such relish. But there can only be one and I went with the star of the movie.
Sean really got into making his costume too. After years of sitting on the idea, he finally got to be Freddy Kruger from Nightmare on Elm Street.
This year’s Halloween was a fun one for both of us.
